About Lisa

Lisa grew up in the town of Wallingford, Connecticut and attended Mark T. Sheehan High School. In 1990, she graduated from Southern Connecticut State University with a BSN, and as a Registered Nurse her career included working as a staff nurse on a general surgery/trauma floor, an operating room circulator, a visiting nurse, and a case manager. In 1999, she spent six months working as a first aid nurse while residing at the Omega Institute, a retreat center for holistic studies in Rhinebeck, New York.

From 2000 to 2002, Lisa attended Quinnipiac University where she earned her MSN and became Board Certified as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN-BC). For the next two and a half years, Lisa worked as a Nurse Practitioner in a GI practice, seeing patients both in the office and in the hospital. In 2006, she was awarded a Master’s degree in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Connecticut. As of October 2006, Lisa has established her own nutrition practice in her hometown of Wallingford, Connecticut. With her clinical background as a nutritionist, Lisa is able to tailor recommendations for her patients based upon their needs whether they may have medical issues such as diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, GI related problems, or just want to develop healthier eating habits.

In addition to her formal education, Lisa has also had the opportunity to spend time with and learn from some of today’s great Spiritual Teachers including Pema Chodron, Ram Dass, Krishna Das, Sharon Salzberg, and Bhante Wimala. She also lived at the Swami Satchidananda Ashram in Yogaville, VA for one month and completed a ten day Vipassana retreat at the Insight Meditation Society in Barre, MA. On May 2, 2009 Lisa took initiation into Sant Mat (Path of Saints) and will always be grateful for the guidance of her Satguru, Sant Rajinder Singh Maharaj Ji.  Complementing her spiritual work has been her world travels which have taken her to such places as India, Nepal and the Himalaya Mountains, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Costa Rica, and Brazil. She proudly displays photographs of her travels in her office.

Lisa believes good nutrition is the key to good health, and that nutrition is not just for the body, but for the body-mind-spirit. Her education and unique experiences have allowed her to approach nutrition from a holistic perspective which she integrates into her practice.  A Lending Library is also available which includes cookbooks, self help books and books on spirituality.

Listed among her professional organizations are:
